Catahoulas have moved
their team and operations to North Richland Hills Texas to become the
Texas Renegades.
The Renegades
will play the 2008-09
WSHL season under new
ownership. Ron Handy
will continue as the General Mgr. of the Team.

WSHL
coaches and medical staff were selected to participate at this year’s
Rocky Mountain District
Development Camp
held recently in
Salt Lake City, Utah.
The camp hosted more than 700 boys and girls (ages 14-17) with hopes of
developing skills and being selected to participate in
USA Hockey’s National
Development Program.

 Head Coach J.F.
Picard
The SoCal Bombers of the Western States Hockey
League
are pleased to announce their new head coach for the 08-09 season.
The Bombers have hired J.F. Picard as the new Head Coach. J.F. was born and
raised in Montreal Canada where he joined the pro
ranks at the age of 18. J.F. is an nine year
pro player as well as the last four years of that time as assistant coach on
the team he played. Prior to his time as a professional hockey player,
J.F. played the Quebec Major Junior League.
During his professional
tenure he also played for the Long Beach Ice Dogs who use to use Glacial Garden as their home practice
rink. J. F. is very familiar with Southern California especially the
local Long Beach / Lakewood area. J.F’s
said “ I am looking forward to my return to Glacial
Garden Ice Arena where I spent many hours practicing my trade with the Ice Dogs.”

 WSHL league is proud to announce the SD Jr
Surf have changed ownership and have now become the SD Gulls, adopting the the name of the local Pro - Hockey organization. The Gullls will continue to call the Escondido Ice-O-Plex their home rink. The new ownership will be
spearheaded by GM Bruce Miller.

News Release 13 May 08
WSHL league meetings are taking place ( May
13 – 16 ) with the Board of Governors gathering to vote on issues important
to the upcoming 2008-09 season. USA Hockey is in attendance to inform the
team owners of pending changes in Junior Hockey rules and obligations for the
coming season of play.

The El Paso
Rhinos in their second season of operation have defeated the Phoenix
Polar Bears in a clean sweep of the WHSL League Championship
Tournament (Mar 14-15).
Both games were extremely exciting spectator events. The
play was fast and furious, with strong defense, good clean hitting, skilled offense with a couple of short handed goals to top
off a great weekend of hockey.
The WHSL named an all tournament team made up of the
