Idaho Junior Steelheads' left-winger Victor Karlsson had beaten the two Valencia Flyers' defensemen just as the puck came around the boards. With a flick of the wrist, Karlsson backhanded a shot over the Valencia goalie's shoulder into the net to score and give Idaho a 2-1 lead over the Flyers.

The 09-10 hockey season is into the final weeks of regular season and the WSHL is watching 5 recent alumni prosper at Division I NCAA Hockey. 
 
The WSHL is pleased that after a couple of years in the WSHL, the following players have reached the pinnacle of amateur hockey by playing NCAA Division I hockey:
  • Corey Jendra - El Paso Rhinos - U. Conn of the Atlantic Hockey League Division I
  • Jason Krispel - El Paso Rhinos - U. Conn of the Atlantic Hockey League Division I
  • Steve MacLeod - Phoenix Polar Bears - American International College of the Atlantic Hockey League Division I
  • Jeremy Langlois - Phoenix Polar Bears - Quinnipiac University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I
  • Max Mobley - Phoenix Polar Bears - St. Lawrence University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I
The WSHL is looking for another great year of college recruiting for the future alumni
class from the 2009-2010 season.
