Fresno To Play Series At Selland Arena
The Fresno Monsters announced Monday the team will play three games at Selland Arena this season. Fresno will host the Long Beach Bombers on February 15-17 at Selland Arena, the former home of the Monsters organization.
At Monday’s press conference, former coach Jay Johnson said, “We have the opportunity to bring the game back to the big stage, and the opportunity to show the rest of the hockey world that we deserve a team here in Fresno, California. We deserve a team playing out of Selland Arena.” He concluded his statement with, “We have two in the top five of scoring in the league. They’re fun to watch, they’re trying to get to the next level, and it’s up to us, the city of Fresno, to support them.”
In the press release sent out by the organization, it said, “It is and has been the goal of the Fresno Monsters to return ice hockey to Selland Arena in downtown Fresno. Cooperation with the current Fresno City Administration and Council has provided us the opportunity to now make that goal into a reality.”
The press release went on to say, “In order to demonstrate that ice hockey is a viable, sustainable entertainment opportunity benefiting the citizens of Fresno and the downtown area, the Fresno Monsters are issuing a call to arms.” Tickets for the games will be available at a later date.
