BELLINGHAM NAMES NEW COACH

Bellingham Blazers Head Coach Mark Collins has parted ways with the team. This past week, Assistant Head Coach Erick Ruud was named acting Head Coach.

“We felt this decision was best for our organization. We thank him for the many ways he has contributed to the Blazers’ success, and we wish him the best” said Whatcom Sports & Recreations Executive Director Marc Ronney.

Erick Ruud, (Rudy) has been serving as assistant head coach for the Blazers for the past two seasons. Rudy grew up right here in Bellingham and played minor hockey for the Whatcom Warriors. He went on to play his Jr Hockey career in the BCHL where in four seasons he played in 169 games and finished with 73g/73a/146pts. This past weekend Rudy lead the team to a 2-0 sweep over the Southern Oregon Spartans and now the Blazers move on to the NW Division Championship Series against Seattle Totems. All three games will be held in Seattle (March 29-31) with the winner advancing to the 2019 WSHL Thorne Cup Championship Series!
