BOSETTI BACKSTOPS BOMBERS TO BIG WIN OVER OKC

by Scott Harrington

Games of December 21:

Ontario 5, CPJHL Black 2—Tanner Turcotte broke a 2-2 tie 9:46 into the second half, then Jeremy Van Dyke scored a pair of goals to seal a 5-2 victory for the Ontario Avalanche over the CPJHL Black team.  Ontario’s Connor Duffy stopped 18 of 20 shots while Matthew Server made 31 saves for the CPJHL Black team.  Roman Kizlo and Brandon Farrell scored for the CPJHL.

West Sound 4, Cheyenne 0—Alex Olsson stopped all 31 shots sent his way by the Cheyenne Stampede as the West Sound Admirals defeated the Stamps, 4-0.  West Sound’s Caleb Travis scored at the 14:19 mark of the first period and that was the game’s only scoring until the Admirals added three goals in the final 1:59 of the game – one of them into an empty net.  Cheyenne’s Brendan Carew matched Olsson’s 31 saves, allowing only one goal for the first 48:01.

Long Beach 2, Oklahoma City 1—Gennady Malashenko’s goal for Long Beach at the 18:58 mark of the first period broke a 1-1 tie and held up as the game-winner as the Long Beach Bombers and Oklahoma City Blazers played scoreless hockey for the final 31:02.  Long Beach goaltender Domenic Bosetti stopped 37 of 38 shots – including all 22 he faced in the second half.  Tomas Urbanec had the other goal for the Bombers and William Cederstam assisted on both Long Beach tallies.  Henrik Overvall scored the OKC goal and Bobby Cloutier made 21 saves for the Blazers.

Hinton 4, Steamboat 3—The Hinton Wildcats built a 4-0 lead by halftime, then held on for a 4-3 win after a rally by the Steamboat Wranglers.  Sven Sollander scored twice in the final 3:23 to get Steamboat within a goal, but the Wranglers could not get the equalizer past Hinton’s Brendan Culbertson, who made 37 saves in the game.  Brendan Auger scored two goals for the Wildcats – including the game-winner.

Valencia 4, Southern Oregon 2—Four different players scored for the Valencia Flyers in their 4-2 win over the Southern Oregon Spartans.  Eric Vanderhoff scored both goals for the Spartans – both on setups from Axel Low.  Kamil Paciga (11 saves) and Mack Willy (17) each played a half in the Flyers net.
