Cheyenne Stampede Hockey Receives Community Service Award

by Mark Lantz

CHEYENNE, WY, March 19, 2018 Cheyenne Stampede Hockey has been named the winner of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Community Service Award for 2017.  The award honors a “Cheyenne business that makes a difference through outstanding initiatives and contributions. They kindheartedly put others first,” according to the Chamber.  The Chamber says the Stampede does a great job of supporting local charitable organizations.

The Stampede has contributed more than $65,000 in cash and in-kind donations to foundations, nonprofit organizations and the military since their inaugural season.  Thousands of tickets have been given to the military and youth in Cheyenne so they can enjoy the hockey games.  Stampede players show their community support and learn valuable life skills by donating their time to help nonprofit organizations and they skate with Cheyenne youth, adults, and fans after most every home game. The players also distribute teddy bears for traumatized children and help with events like the Cheyenne Christmas parade and the Greek Festival.

Stampede General Manager Mark Lantz and his wife, Tammy say “it’s a great honor to be awarded Cheyenne’s Community Service Award. We believe in giving back to our community and we are humbled by the generosity of Stampede Nation.

The Stampede received the award at the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet Friday, March 16th.
