Eagles Defenseman Richardson Makes NCAA Commitment

The Northern Colorado Eagles are proud to announce that Eagles defenseman, Cory Richardson, has committed to the Finlandia University NCAA men's hockey program for the 2018-2019 season. The Greeley, Colorado native spent parts of 3 seasons with the Eagles dating back from the start of it's inception in the 2013-14 season. In 98 games played, Richardson produced 26 goals and 55 assists for a total of 81 points ranking 4th on the all-time defenseman scoring list (13th overall in the organization). The explosive two-way defenseman was tied with forwards David Mitchell and Eagles captain Carter Dahl for the team scoring lead this season with 49pts.

"Junior Hockey was a great experience that I wouldn't change for the world. It was particularly memorable with the Eagles organization. I want to give a special thanks to owner Casey Bradshaw for putting together the organization and giving me a chance to play close to my hometown. I would also like to thank Coach Steve Haddon for helping groom me into the player I am today and giving me the opportunity to thrive in an organization. Thank you to my teammates who pushed me everyday in practice, and for becoming my life long friends. The last thank you goes to my family, girlfriend and friends . I wouldn't be where I am today without the unfathomable amount of support you have all provided to me. I am very excited to be attending Finlandia University with a few of my fellow teammates. I am eager to take on the challenge and create a winning culture at Finlandia University," said Richardson on closing the chapter on a very successful junior hockey career and eager to open the next at the NCAA level.

Richardson was in the top 10 in WSHL defenseman scoring. The Eagles have had the honor in the past 5 seasons to have had a defenseman in that category.

"Being here from day one and starting and finishing his Junior hockey career here is something very special. Cory's commitment, work ethic and drive has always separated him from other players. Cory came into our organization as a fresh face 15-year-old and walked out a man with a NCAA scholarship. Being able to watch him grow such a great amount is what our organization is all about. I know Cory will be very successful at the NCAA level and beyond. I want to thank him for all his hard work and commitment on and off the ice to our organization and community. We are all very proud of him and wish him all the best," said Head Coach and GM, Steve Haddon.

The organization has a lot of work to do to be ready for September.  If any new sponsors, restaurants, local businesses, billet families or volunteers in the Greeley, Eaton and surrounding areas are interested in joining the Northern Colorado Eagles family, please contact us via the email addresses below.
