Former Player Kouris Named Hawks Bench Boss
Hawks Find New Bench Boss in Former Player Kouris
The Arizona Hawks will have a new head coach calling the shots this fall, as former Hawks forward Jay Kouris returns to Arizona to take over the coaching reins for the 2017-18 season.
Kouris, a native of Indiana, appeared in 43 games with Arizona during the 2010-2011 season and later served as assistant coach for three seasons. Being just 26 years of age, Kouris will be one of the youngest coaches in the WSHL, but the Hawks organization was wowed with his ability to develop offensive and defensive strategies, as well as help players grow both on and off the ice.
Kouris takes over for Luke Hernandez, who coached the Hawks for the majority of the 2016-2017 season.
