The Bellingham Blazers are happy to announce the return of Simeon Smith to the Blazers roster! Smith, a Bellingham native, played with the Blazers from 2015-2017 and most recently played in the USPHL - Premier Division. "I'm happy to be returning home to the Blazers and look forward to helping repeat as division champs and returning to the Thorne Cup" said Smith. "Signing a local Bellingham boy like Simeon is what we strive to achieve with our Blazer programs. The Bellingham Blazers are thrilled to announce the return of Matthew Edgecombe for the 2019-2020 season! Edgecombe will be returning for his third season with the Blazers and is ready to go. "I'm very excited to return to Bellingham. We have a great group of guys already in place and I'm ready to improve on our success from last season" said Edgecombe. "Matt committing to the Blazers is a huge step in our revamp of the Blazers team, he brings the consistency and leadership we need on the blue line to take our team to the next level." Vikings fans please join us in welcoming our TENTH commitment of the 2019-20 season, Adam Gammel! The recent Sa-Hali High School graduate has spent his last two years playing for the Bellingham Blazers in the WSHL where he amassed 4 goals and 13 assists in 39 games played. The ‘01 hard nosed forward brings a work horse attitude along with an elite playmaking ability that will make him a huge asset to the Vikings offense. When asked what he is most looking forward to about joining Western, Adam said, “I am looking forward to getting to play hockey with my brother again!” Viking Nation please make some noise and join us in welcoming Adam to the University and to the team!

New head coach hired in bellingham 

The Bellingham Blazers and Whatcom Sports & Recreation are happy to announce Colten Teubert as the new Head Coach of the Bellingham Blazers!

“We’re happy to have Colten and glad things worked out in the manner they did” said WS&R Executive Director Marc Ronney.  “Colten has had a very successful playing career and we’re excited to have him bring his on-ice leadership and winning attitude to the team, our youth and adult programs & our organization” added Ronney. 

Teubert, a White Rock BC native, was the first overall draft pick by the Regina Pats in the 2005 WHL Draft where he played the next four seasons and was eventually named Captain before finishing his career with the Pats.  During his time in Regina, Teubert also represented Team Canada in the 2008 World U18 Championships where he won a gold medal.  He also played for Team Canada in the World Junior Championships in both 2009 & 2010 where he won a Gold and Silver Medal respectively and served as the Alternate Captain.

In the 2008 NHL Draft, the Teubert was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, 13th overall pick.  Following his final season in Regina, 2010, he was assigned to the Ontario Reign in the ECHL.  He started his professional career in 2011 with the Reign but in February 2011, the Kings traded Teubert to the Edmonton Oilers where he eventually made his NHL debut during the 2011-12 season.  In 2013 Colten decided to take his talent to Germany where he played the next five seasons in the DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga).

“I am extremely excited about this opportunity” said Coach Teubert.  “I’m ready to help grow the game of hockey in Bellingham and help the Blazers take the next step in being a successful organization both academically and on ice” added Teubert.

Artur comes to Bellingham from Estonia and most recently finished the 18/19 season with HC Vipers U18 team where he amassed 31g/21a/52pts in just 25 games! 

Coach Walker is excited to have Artur's offensive skill set on the team next season as well.

Blazers sign tyson rowe

The 18-year-old comes to the Blazers from the Sherwood Park Oilers (Midget-AA) where he scored 6G-8A-14Pts. After 23 games he got the nod to play for the Sherwood Park Kings (Midget AAA). Now a Blazer, Rowe will look to bolster the Blazer's offensive department. 

ryan goulden re-ups for 19-20

Goulden, who joined the team last December, playing both defense and forward, put up 7G-19A-26PTS in 26 games. Goulden is ready to get back to Bellingham and focus on the upcoming season. 

"I'm super excited to be returning to Bellingham," Goulden said. "I look forward to taking a leadership role this season and help the team to get back to Thorne Cup next April."

Coach Walker is ready as well, "having Ryan return for the next season will help strengthen our roster both offensively and defensively," Coach Walker said.  

Macdonald inks for third year

Left shooting defenseman, John Macdonald, will patrol the blue line for a third season. In his first season, Macdonald had 19 assists. He increased his totals last season to one goal, 27 assists and 28 points. Macdonald has nine multi-point games in his WSHL career.   

Brayden harper re-signs for the blazers 

Brayden Harper will come back for his second season in the WSHL. The Edmonton native played in 41 games, in his first campaign for Bellingham, scoring six goals and nine assists for a total of 15 points. Harper's first career goal was against the West Sound Admirals on Dec. 7, 2018. He found goals versus the Seattle Totems and Long Beach Bombers as well.  

Kolter pawlick in net for 19-20 season

The Bellingham Blazers have been active in signing new players and ensuring key returners. Of those returning is Kolter Pawlick who looks to get his third season as a Blazer started. Pawlick finished last season with a 2.83 GAA and .914 SV% in 21 games (37 dressed). His record was 14-5-2 (W-L-OTL) and made a total of three shutouts. 

Jamahl eakett returns for the blazers

The Bellingham Blazers are excited to announce the first signing of the 2019-2020 season, and what better way to kick things off than one of the leagues top scorers - Jamahl Eakett!

"We extremely happy to have Jamahl return for his fourth season with us" Head Coach Geoff Walker says. "He's a great person with amazing talent. We're all looking forward to seeing him and his leadership next season" Walker added.

Eakett finished the 2018-19 campaign with an impressive 50g/64a/114pts putting him fifth in scoring in the league.

"I'm excited to come back to Bellingham next season" said Eakett. He also added, I'm also excited to see what next year holds after such a great year last year and returning to the Thorne Cup again"
