Kranabetter Breaks WSHL Assist Record
We have a new all-time assist king in the Western States Hockey League. Valencia Flyers forward Jakob Kranabetter picked up his 211th assist of his junior career on Friday in a 5-4 win against the Fresno Monsters.
The assist came with 33 seconds left in the second period on home ice against Fresno. Trailing the Monsters 4-3, Kranabetter assisted on Nikita Pintusov’s third goal of the game.
Kranabetter passed Tomas Nemeth, who played for Wichita, Long Beach and Oklahoma City over his four seasons in the WSHL.
Next up, Kranabetter will set his sights on the all-time point record. After Friday’s record-breaking performance, he sits tied for 2nd all-time in points with Peter Cicamec, at 304 career points. The all-time mark, also held by Nemeth, is 325 points.
