by Laura Cisneros

In the final matchup before the finals the Idaho IceCats and the El Paso Rhinos went head to head to play for a spot in the Thorne Cup Finals. After losing their first two games during the round robin the El Paso Rhinos were looking to remind everyone that they were the number one team in the league. The IceCats were the second team to earn a spot in the semifinals after beating both the Oklahoma City Blazers and the Long Beach Bombers during the round robins. After three periods of play the Rhinos defeated the IceCats four to zero, earning themselves a spot in the finals for a chance to hoist the Thorne Cup. The Rhinos will now look to overthrow the Ogden Mustangs who have a perfect record of 4-0, beating every team they’ve played so far in the tournament, including the Bombers who they beat in the semifinals ten to three.
