Snipers Re-Sign Vet Nick Pehl
The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce the re-signing of Defenseman, Nick Pehl. Last season, he played in the GMHL before signing with Dallas for their playoff run. The German Defensemen is looking forward to returning to the Snipers. He is the 2nd ever German to play with the Snipers.
This is what Snipers Head Coach Aaron Davis had to say about Pehl. “Nick came to our team with about a month left in the regular season to help us push towards the playoffs. He came in and made an immediate impact on our club. He works hard, does the little things great, and plays consistent. It is a no brainer to bring him back.”
A German native, he played for the Meaford Knights and the Northumberland Stars in the GMHL. Pehl began the season in Meaford before getting traded before training camp ended to the Stars. In 35 games play with the Stars, he produced 10 points during his time. Nick contacted the organization to play for the Snipers during the 18/19, but then decided to finish the season with the Snipers.
Here is what Nick had to say about Dallas.
Why did you choose to return to Dallas for the 2018-2019?
“I choose to return to Dallas because I feel this is the place that will give me the best opportunity to develop and move up to the next level. I came to the team at the end of the season and from day one the coaching staff and my teammates welcomed me with open arms. There was no doubt this is the organization I wanted to play for this season.”
What is your goal for this season in Dallas?
“I want to get better every day on and off the ice. That way I can lead by example and be the best player I can for my coaches and teammates. I’m looking forward to another great season in Dallas!”
What is your favorite part of living in Dallas?
“Oh, there is a lot, but the weather and the activities around Dallas are my favorite part. The weather is awesome, walking in and out of the rink and the sun is shine in the middle of January and it’s 70 degrees. It awesome to visit the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL arenas and go to games or concerts. There is so much more to do, I only got to live in Dallas for a month in a half. I am excited to get back and see more!
What is your thought on the level of play in the WSHL?
“I played in the DNL2 in Germany for two seasons. Last season I played in the GMHL, before coming to Dallas. To me I feel the WSHL is very similar to the DNL, which is the top league in Germany. I think it is a great league for development and opportunity. It is a good league to develop for the USHL, NAHL and College hockey.”
Pehl will be wearing #28 for the Snipers this upcoming season. Nick will move to Dallas, prior to the season starting. The 5’10, 170-pound Defenseman is looking forward to re-joining the Snipers Organization for the 2018-2019 season. The Snipers will begin their 8th season of play during the 2018-2019 season.
