Stanley Cup Monsters
The Stanley Cup® is coming to Fresno on Jan. 10th
You can now add Fresno to the long list of destinations this season that the Stanley Cup ® will visit.
The Fresno Monsters will get a day with the Cup on January 10, the team announced Friday. Fresno will play the Ontario Avalanche that evening at 7:30 p.m. and fans will get a chance to have their picture taken with the Cup.
“It’s a thrill to work with the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL to be bringing the Stanley Cup® to Fresno. The Monsters are proud to be giving back to our amazing fans and giving them the opportunity to create memories they will never forget” said Fresno Monsters Director of Operations, James Karr.
The Monsters Head Coach Kevin Kaminski, a former player for the Washington Capitals from 1993-1997, is the person responsible for coordinating the Stanley Cup® spending some time in the Central Valley.
"This is absolutely exciting news that Lord Stanley's Cup is coming to Fresno" said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see it and take a photo with a part of hockey history. I believe it's not only a commodity for the die hard hockey fan but for the whole city to see it. It's not called the holy grail for nothing. This is the hardest trophy to win in all of sports. I've personally seen it only once in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. I'm getting old and since my old team the Washington Capitals won it last year - I think this time around I'm gonna have to hold it. Who knows.... it might be my only chance"
Making a stop at a Western States Hockey League game is not a common occurrence, as this will only be the second time the cup has ever visited a team in the league in its 25-year existence. The last time the cup visited a team was with the Monsters rivals, the Long Beach Bombers, in Lakewood back in 2012.
Pictures with the Stanley Cup® will be free and available to all fans in attendance at the January 10th game. If you would like to purchase single game tickets for this night, fans can do so by visiting the Selland Arena box office (recommended) or by purchasing online.
Group tickets are also available starting at $10: https://bit.ly/2EdL3qT
