The Oklahoma City Jr Blazers and Head Coach Gary Gill are thrilled to announce the addition of coach Ty Smith to the Blazers coaching staff. Ty Smith joins the Blazers after spending last season as the head coach of the West Sound Warriors, where he coached the Warriors to a 21-29-1 record in their lone season in the WSHL.

Smith, a Tulsa native, returns to Oklahoma where he started his playing career and spent multiple years with the Tulsa Rampage. At the age of 14, Smith headed to Texas and advanced through the WSHL, NAHL, NOJHL & SIJHL.

Smith's coaching career began in 2010, where he served as the head coach of the Tulsa Union High School team. From there, Smith spent time as an assistant coach with the Cheyenne Stampede, Tulsa Jr. Oilers, and Springfield Express. Smith's first WSHL head coaching position came with the Butte Cobras from 2015 thru 2017, before joining West Sound in 2017.

As a head coach, Smith boasts an impressive .605 win percentage, including a 6-4 record in the playoffs.
