Utah Ogden Win Streaks
The quarter-mark of the 2017-18 WSHL season is approaching and the two Utah-based teams are on a roll. The Ogden Mustangs are leading the pack in the Mountain Division thanks to an eight-game winning streak. Meanwhile in West Valley City, the Utah Outliers have built a seven-game winning streak to jump into third place in the Mountain Division race. As these two teams prepare to clash in a home-and-home this weekend, here is a look into their current runs.
Thanks to a pair of sweeps at home against Southern Oregon and on the road in Casper, the Outliers enter the final week of October on a seven-game win streak. Leading scorer Zack Hoffman has eight goals and 12 assists during this run for Utah, while Gianni Vitali has notched 11 of his 13 assists this season in the last seven games. The Outliers have also done a stellar job of keeping their opponents off the scoreboard, yielding just seven goals during this win streak including three shutouts.
The Mustangs extending their win streak to eight games last weekend with a sweep in Southern Oregon. Matus Spodniak has 19 goals and 18 assists during Ogden’s win streak giving him a league-leading 49 points. Ross Bartlett, who is second in league scoring, has recorded 12 goals and 13 assists over the last eight games. The Mustangs have been dominating during their run, outscoring opponents 93-9. Ogden has scored seven or more goals in seven of their eight wins, while holding opponents to one or fewer goals in six of the eight contests.
