Veteran Defenseman Hines returns for final season
The Northern Colorado Eagles are proud to announce that veteran defenseman Trent Hines will return for his final season of junior hockey for the upcoming 2018-2019 campaign. Hines, a Fort Collins, Colorado native, is coming off his best season in an Eagles uniform hitting career highs in goals and points at 9 and 32, respectively. Hines hit a big milestone this season on, March 4th, in the last regular season game of the 2017-2018 season becoming the franchise leader in games played with 171 games under his belt.
"I am excited to be coming back to the Eagles. I feel very fortunate to have spent my entire junior career here. I've see this team grow and change the past 4 seasons. We have built a winning tradition here in Northern Colorado and the last step is to bring home the Thorne Cup. That's the ultimate goal," said Hines, eager to get the season underway.
Hines made Eagles history two seasons ago scoring the overtime winning goal over the Oklahoma City Blazers in game 3 of the Plains Conference Championship series to send the Eagles to their first Thorne Cup appearance. Hines is ranked 3rd in Eagles history for defenseman scoring with 85 points, behind Brad Campbell with 89 points and Adam Wammes with 92 points.
"Time has flown by the past four seasons and I have been lucky enough to be apart of watching the growth and development. I know Trent will make a big impact this season. Hines is so important to our leadership group. He will help lead this group on and off the ice. He is the lead catalyst on the back end and the bar is set high for him and the team," said Head Coach and GM, Steve Haddon.
The organization has a lot of work to do to be ready for September.
