Wranglers announce Ryan Dingle as new Head Coach

The Steamboat Wranglers are proud to announce that Steamboat's Ryan Dingle will be the new Head Coach of the Steamboat Wranglers.

Dingle writes, "I am eagerly anticipating the first day that I step behind the bench for the Wranglers. I have played professional hockey for 11 seasons, in four different countries but to be able to coach a team in your hometown is an amazing honor. Let's pack the barn and pick up where we left off in the Spring! Bring on hockey season!"

Dingle replaces Joakin Falt as Head Coach, who has announced he is heading back to his home country of Sweden, after 22 years of being away. Coach Falt will continue to support and promote the Steamboat Wranglers during his transition, and going forward as an international scout.

Ryan Dingle is a native of Colorado and played his youth hockey in Steamboat Springs and Littleton. Hockey was the driving force that mapped out his path over the next 20 years. Ryan played junior hockey in the USHL fir the Des Moines Buccaneers and the Tri-City Storm where he captained a regular season title winning team. From there, he played hockey for the University of Denver where he won an NCAA National Championship. in 2007, Ryan signed with the Anhiem Ducks and played with their AHL team for two seasons before being traded alongside Chris Pronger to the Philadelphia Flyers.

After four seasons in the AHL and ECHL. Ryan craved something different on the ice. He and his wife Sophia moved across the Atlantic to try professional hockey in Europe; first stop Crotina, Italy which become their home for four seasons. The italian league (Serie A) revamped his love for the game, but this was not the last stop in the European adventure. After accomplishing everything on and off the ice in Italy. Ryan signed with the Elite Ice Hockey League of Great Britain where he was either an Assistant Captain or Captain for three seasons in both Scotland and England.

In Addition to his playing career, Ryan is the director of Player Development for the Steamboat Stampede Youth Hockey Association. Also, Ryan is the Founder and Director of Elite Hockey Training, a summer hockey camp that has founded in 2011. It has become a staple in the summer programs offered annually in Steamboat and is widely enjoyed by boys and girls ages five to 18.

Ryan and Sophia are the proud parents of two boys, Everett and Oliver. Sophia is an accomplished writer who has documented many of their European adventures online and in the local Steamboat newspaper.
